Our Mission
At Practically Positive Dog Training, we believe training should feel good—for you and your dog. That’s why we’ve moved away from the outdated LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) model in favor of a more modern, science-backed approach that better reflects our values and your dog’s needs.
We follow the Humane Hierarchy of Behavior Change, a framework developed by behavior science expert Dr. Susan Friedman. This hierarchy helps us make ethical, evidence-based choices that prioritize your dog’s emotional well-being while working toward your real-world goals.
We also use the LIFE model—Least Intrusive, Functionally Effective—which means we care about two things:
🧠 How kind a method is to your dog’s mind and body
🎯 And how well it works for your actual, messy, beautiful life
In short:
We don’t rely on fear, pain, or intimidation.
We don’t expect perfection.
We do meet you where you are—with judgment-free guidance, practical plans, and tools backed by behavior science.
Because that’s what “Practically Positive” really means.
